Joshua Taton

Joshua Taton has worked in math education for more than fifteen years, beginning his career as a middle and high school math teacher in Philadelphia. He has also taught graduate-level math and math education courses at Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Rosemont College. Taton has overseen math curriculum implementation and professional development for the School District of Philadelphia and Independence Mission Schools.In 2011 he helped establish a professional learning community that continues to support teachers in the Greater Philadelphia region (the Philadelphia Area Math Teachers' Circle, www.pamtc.org). Taton has spoken on his research and work at a number of national and regional conferences. He holds a bachelor's degree in math from Yale University, a master's in educational technology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in teaching, learning and curriculum of math, also from the University of Pennsylvania. Professionally and personally, he is deeply committed to supporting and learning with teachers and promoting equity in math classrooms. He also enjoys Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, running, cooking vegan food, and watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Stranger Things on Netflix.
